What to Expect Day 0: Hanoi – Sapa Sleeper train from Hanoi to Sapa

  • A dreamy overnight train journey

22:00 Your Sapa and Ha Giang loop tour both begins and ends in Hanoi. To save you a few hours of daytime travel and provide a train experience, you will travel from Hanoi to Sapa by sleeper train. You will overnight on the comfortable Dream Train Express, in a 4-bed cabin. All bedding is provided, and your cabin is air-conditioned.. Accommodation Dream Train Express

  • The bunk berths are pretty comfortable, but if you’re over 6 foot (1.83cm) you won’t be able to fully stretch out, if you are over 6 foot or (1.85cm) you might pull your legs a bit, however the ride is comfortable but it can be noisy of the train track is a bit bumpy ride.
  • If you like to have a snack during the night, it is best to bring your own.

Day 1: Explore Sapa

6:00 AM: Early the next morning, you'll arrive at Lao Cai station. A vehicle will be ready to take you to your hotel in Sapa. Upon reaching Sapa, you can freshen up and enjoy breakfast.

Morning: Once you're ready, you'll explore the area around Sapa by car. Your first stop on this morning's tour is the Love Waterfall, which is located about 15 km from Sapa town. A 30-minute walk along the stream and through the forest will lead you to the waterfall. There aren't many visitors at the waterfall, so it's a wonderful opportunity to stroll and relax by the falls, rejuvenating yourself after the train journey and early start. Back in the car, you'll continue your journey and cross the highest mountain pass in the country, Tram Ton Pass. You'll have stunning views right from the road. Along this pass is another waterfall where you can make a short stop, Silver Waterfall. After crossing the mountains and waterfall, you'll return to Sapa for lunch. After lunch, you will have the afternoon free to explore Sapa at your leisure. For example, you can take a cable car ride to the top of Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam. Alternatively, you can visit the local market, the stone church, or take a leisurely stroll to Cat Cat Village... Accommodation Maison de Sapa (2 nights)

Day 2: Sapa Trekking

Morning: Today, you will explore some of Sapa's famous and stunning terraced rice fields through a jungle trek. Your guide will pick you up after breakfast at the hotel. The first part of your Sapa trekking adventure will take you along the Cat Cat path towards a village.

From here, the trail continues to the Muong Hoa River, where you'll cross a bamboo bridge. The next part involves ascending into the mountains and trekking through bamboo forests. You'll come across some magnificent terraced rice fields that have been carved into the mountainside. The long trekking path will provide you with numerous opportunities to capture photos of these rice fields as well as the colorful ethnic minority people and farm animals like water buffalo along the way..   Afternoon: The trail continues to the village of Y Linh Ho. In this ethnic minority village, you can enjoy lunch at the traditional restaurant of a local Hmong family. After lunch, your guide will take you to the village of Lao Chai, home to the Black Hmong group. Walking along various paths amidst rice fields, you will reach the next village, inhabited by a different ethnic minority group. In Tả Van village, you will meet the Giay people.

Your guide will tell you all about the different ethnic groups, their cultures, attire, and more. At the end of the trek, the vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Sapa.

Day 3: Sapa - Ha Giang

Sapa - Ha Giang Transfer to Ha Giang and stay in an ethnic minority village • Thon Tha • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

7:00 AM A limousine will pick you up in Sapa and take you to the meeting point for your journey to Ha Giang. The journey from Sapa to Ha Giang takes approximately 6 hours, with 1 or 2 stops along the way for restroom breaks and refreshments. It's wise to bring some snacks and drinks of your own.

1:00 PM Upon reaching Ha Giang, you will have lunch first.

2:00 PM After lunch, you will be taken to a homestay in the outskirts of the city, in a charming little village inhabited by the Tay ethnic group.

3:30 PM: Check-in at the homestay and spend the remaining afternoon relaxing or exploring the beautiful village and its surroundings. All houses are built in the traditional stilt house style of the Tay ethnic group. There are plenty of farm animals moving around inside and around the village, as well as being surrounded by stunning rice fields

7:00 PM In the early evening, you can enjoy a family dinner with the host family and other fellow travelers, all operated by the ethnic minority family managing the homestay.

Day 4: Ha Giang to Dong Van

Ha Giang - Quan Ba - Yen Minh - Dong Van

Morning: After breakfast, you will embark on the second part of your combined Sapa and Ha Giang tour. Depending on your preference, you will be picked up by car or motorbike to travel the first 150 kilometers of the Ha Giang route. This is a private tour, so essentially, you can stop wherever you like for photos or simply to enjoy the scenery. However, there are some places you will stop at, and the first of these is the Quan Ba Heaven's Gate, a pass that stands 1500 meters high with breathtaking views of the Ha Giang mountains. A little further down the pass, you will have another view of the Twin Mountain Range. Afternoon And all the way down the pass is a village where you will have lunch. The first stop after lunch is the photogenic Tham Ma Pass. Next you will visit the former palace of the king of the Hmong minority group. Another fantastic part of this day's journey is passing through the Sủng Là Valley, which includes another stunning mountain pass. In the late afternoon, around

5:00 PM, but depending on the number of stops along the way, you will arrive in Dong Van, the final destination of today. Check-in at the hotel or homestay and enjoy dinner. In the evening, you can explore the cozy old town district of Dong Van.

Morning: If your second day on the Ha Giang route falls on a Sunday, you're in luck, especially if you're interested in ethnic culture. The reason being a giant market is held every Sunday in the center of Dong Van with hundreds of beautifully dressed ethnic minority people. Have breakfast before your journey in Ha Giang continues through the Dong Van Plateau, a UNESCO-recognized Global Geopark with the most majestic mountainous landscapes. Finally, you will reach Lũng Cú, the northernmost point of Vietnam bordering China. As an iconic landmark, you'll find a massive flagpole on top of the mountain with views extending over both Vietnam and China.

Afternoon: For most, the highlight of the Ha Giang loop route is the Ma Pi Leng Pass, the king of mountain passes in Vietnam.

Enjoy the majestic scenery from the winding road perched on steep cliffs with a river below. This 20-kilometer stretch takes you through rugged mountains, offering numerous photo opportunities along this part of the loop. As an option, you can also enjoy a boat trip along the Nho Que River at your own expense. Finally you arrive in Meo Vac and stay in a homestay or hotel.

Day 6: Ha Giang Route - Hanoi

Morning:

This combined Sapa Ha Giang tour concludes in Hanoi, so on the final day, we have to cover a fair distance. Fortunately, this route is extremely beautiful, and after a few days, you're sure not to find it boring.

But before leaving Meo Vac, you have the opportunity to visit the largest ethnic minority market in the province, which only takes place on Sundays.
