You can also stop at other places for photos, but when stopping on the road, be mindful of other vehicles, as this pass is also the main route connecting Dong Van City and Meo Vac. There are almost no tourist attractions, built facilities like temples, hotels, so this difficult terrain still looks very natural. Lunch at a local restaurant. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will visit Mucangchai. Mucangchai: La Pan Tan and Che Cu Nha are two villages with the most beautiful terraced fields in Mucangchai. No one can pass by without stopping to enjoy the masterpieces of the Northwest ethnic Mong people. The terraced fields in Che Cu Nha are recognized as a National Landscape by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Yen Bai has the Mu Cang Chai Terraced Field Festival, attracting more and more tourists to Che Cu Nha, Mu Cang Chai. This Northwestern region is poor and relatively underdeveloped, but it has a lot of natural beauty. Che Cu Nha's terraced fields stretch along the mountainside, layer by layer, with about 2,200 hectares of terraced fields, of which 500 hectares belong to three communes, such as La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, and Zế Xu Phình. Mu Cang Chai's terraced fields are known as one of Vietnam's outstanding landscapes. It is one of the highest-ranked national landscapes. Due to the steep terrain, the terraced plots are quite narrow. The distance between terraces ranges from 1 to 1.5 meters, requiring the maintenance of water sources on the land for rice cultivation on the mountainside. Visit Che Cu Nha in May or September. You will have the opportunity to admire the most beautiful terraced fields of the year. It would be a great idea to take an overnight homestay tour with local hosts. You will have many opportunities to exchange cultures with local people. Because the Mong people have the concept of retaining water by stacking soil on the mountain to level the terraced fields. Day 12: MUCANGCHAI - CHECUNHA - MAMXOI HILL - DEXUPHINH - LAPANTAN - KHAUPA PASS - TULE - NGHIALO [B/L/D]
Day 12: MUCANGCHAI - CHECUNHA - MAMXOI HILL - DEXUPHINH - LAPANTAN - KHAUPA PASS - TULE - NGHIALO [B/L/D]

Today, you will have the entire day to explore the breathtaking beauty of Mucangchai, such as the Mamxoi Hill viewpoint and capture photos at La Pan Tan village, one of the most beautiful terraced fields. The more beautiful photos, the better. The group will traverse the Khau Pha Pass, one of the winding and steepest passes in Vietnam, crossing the summit of Khau Pha, the highest mountain in the Mucangchai region. Khau Pha is most beautiful during the ripe rice season, around September-October, when the rice at the foot of the terraced fields turns golden. This is also the time when many adventurous travelers attempt to conquer the pass to admire the scenery. The old forests in Khau Pha still preserve many rare plants, animals such as pine trees, meo trees, and other rare species. Mucangchai is renowned for its vast terraced fields, especially those on the mountainsides of La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, and Dế Xu Phình villages. Visiting Mucangchai in September or October, at the end of autumn, tourists can witness the richness when the rice on the terraced fields turns golden. During that time, the terraced fields look like golden silk scarves flying in the wind on the lush green mountainsides, creating a stunning mountainous landscape. Dế Xu Phình (Ze Xu Phình) is located in Mucangchai, Yen Bai province, and is one of the three villages with the most beautiful terraced fields in Mucangchai. From Yen Bai city, following National Highway 32 for about 5 hours, passing through Tu Le commune, Khau Pha pass, Mucangchai district emerges amidst a plateau surrounded by picturesque mountains. The winding pass road meanders through ancient forests, with steep terraced fields of H'Mong and Thai people. The most beautiful time in Khau Pha is around September or October when the terraced fields on the mountainside turn golden. This is the chosen time for many tourists to conquer the pass and admire the scenery. Besides, visitors can enjoy the winding pass roads through pristine forests. In these forests, many rare flora and fauna are preserved, such as black gibbons, gray gibbons, cinnamon, and various rare birds and animals. Khau Pha Pass road is 2/3 gravel, rocky, and rough, especially after passing through Tu Le, it becomes more beautiful. Throughout the length of the pass, it has to bend a few sleeves. On cloudy days, the pass is particularly dangerous for drivers as there are no guardrails or warning signs. Giao Hang Pass has deteriorated a lot due to lack of regular maintenance, prone to erosion, and subsidence as it is in the basalt soil system, weak soil. On the "Horn of the sky," the weather is always cool like in Sapa, and there is even snowfall like in Sapa at an altitude of over 2,000m. Life is evolving every day, but the people still preserve their traditional culture. Conversely, you will encounter beautiful terraced fields like paintings, towering mountain peaks in the midst of a thousand smiles, majestic and friendly, and happy people living on the Sky Horn.

  • Explore the terraced paradise of Mu Cang Chai.
  • Visit terraced fields in Che Cu Nha, La Pan Tan.

Travelers will have the opportunity to admire the paradise of golden sun terraced fields, recognized as a nationally recognized scenic landscape. Lunch at a local restaurant. Then return to the Tule field to visit the ripe rice season with vast terraced fields that captivate any visitor who comes here. In the ripe rice season, the golden terraced fields sparkle in the early morning sun, turning Tule into a gigantic bas-relief on the mountainside. In the ripe rice season, you can see the full beauty of the terraced fields. Tule field is where professional or amateur photographers stop and unleash their creativity. Tule is a village in Van Chan district, Yen Bai province, about 265 km north of Hanoi, in the Northwest region of Vietnam. Tule village is home to the Mong and Thai ethnic communities. At an altitude of about 960m above sea level, the sloping hills make growing rice as in the delta almost impossible. Therefore, local people cultivate rice on terraced fields to prevent water from flowing down the slope. The terraced fields are situated amidst the dangerous lush green mountain valley, under the blue sky or the mysterious fog, providing visitors with a majestic view. Explore further at Lim Mong village in Tule at the foot of Khau Pha pass. It is one of the best ways to get more joy and experience in the beautiful village, local culture, lifestyle, and the stunning terrace view. You will arrive in Tule Valley, nestled between three high peaks Khau Pha, Khau Va, and Khau Than, like a green plateau surrounded by mighty mountains. The journey to discover Tule not only brings a sense of awe in the beauty of the terraced fields but also in the way of life, the friendliness, and the joy of the people living in this "Sky Horn." This marks the end of your exploration of the enchanting Mu Cang Chai region. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay in Nghia Lo.

The ideal time to hunt for clouds at Ta Xua is from October to April, providing the opportunity to witness beautiful layers of clouds and blooming wildflowers. For more unforgettable experiences, travelers can continue the journey to Hang Dong commune, a 30-minute motorcycle ride from Ta Xua. Hang Dong is one of the peaks of Son La province, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The terrain here resembles a giant wok leaning against the Ta Xua mountain range. Therefore, this place is often dubbed by backpackers across Vietnam as the 'dinosaur backbone.' Lunch at a local restaurant. We will continue driving to Moc Chau. You will stop at some beautiful spots for sightseeing and photography. Upon reaching Moc Chau, have dinner with local specialties at a local restaurant. Check-in at your accommodation.
